Dr. McMath

November 25, 2011

In my first year at Moody, it is required to take an Old Testament Survey class. Here in Spokane, we get the privilege of doing that with Dr. McMath. Dr. McMath is an incredibly brilliant and knowledgeable man. He is very passionate about the Old Testament and is incredibly wise when it comes to the Bible and the likes. In this post I have decided to share some of his best quotes (funny and profound) from class and his notes. He is an incredible man with amazing quotes. Internet, I give you quotes from Dr. McMath:

  •   After going through the summation of King David’s life in the high point of the deeds of his mighty men. (2 Samuel 23) “It’s not about how many giants you kill, but about how many giant killers you train.”
  • “Men/Women of faith look at obstacles and see victory”
  • ‎”French poetry sounds stupid in English… it sounds kind of stupid in French.”
  • ‎”Evangelism is simply one poor starving man telling another where the food is. The siege is over, the enemy has fled, and there is food to be had.”
  • “You will never make eye contact with someone who doesn’t matter deeply to God.”
  • “In the midst of this infinite power, God is unutterably holy– so holy He cannot countenance sin in any degree. Man in His sight is a sin-filled worm worthy of destruction– yet graciously provided with salvation, the forgiveness of sin.”
  • “You have not been called to be successful in ministry, you been called to be faithful.”
  • “God does not save us because we are good, but because He is good.
